Corum, Robert 'Bob' E.
Robert “Bob” E. Corum, 45, of Springville, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long, courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 13, at Springville United Methodist Church, Springville. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle; their children, Austin, Hallie and Evan, at home; his parents, Richard and Phyllis Corum of Springville; siblings, Vickie Butler of Cedar Rapids, Richard (Joan) Corum of Lisbon, Bryan (Rhonda) Corum of Central City; his grandmother, Norma Jean Cole of Marion; mother-in-law, Mabel (Paul) Caspers of Springville; father-in-law, Tony Satterlee Sr. of Anamosa; brother-in-law, Tony (Shanna) Satterlee of Marion; and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed (Theresa) Corum and Harley Morris; and cousin, Kelly Corum.
Bob was born March 17, 1966, the son of Richard and Phyllis (Morris) Corum in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Springville High School in 1985. Bob married Michelle Satterlee on April 8, 1995, at the Springville United Methodist Church. He was an electric line mechanic for Alliant Energy.
Bob was a member of the Springville United Methodist Church, the IBEW, past member of the Otter Creek Sportsman Club, and past member of the North-Linn Fish and Game Club. He was an avid Oakland Raiders and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. An outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, fishing, mushrooming, deer hunting, and pheasant hunting, Bob knew no stranger and was very kindhearted. Bob was a big supporter of the Springville Orioles. He was a very “hands on” dad who enjoyed attending all of his kids' activities. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob's memory may be directed to Exchange State Bank, P.O. Box 39, Springville, IA 52336.
