Thank you to the Public Works Department, council members and the mayor for listening to the residents of the Cottage Grove Avenue/Forest Drive neighborhood. The city's reconsideration of a roundabout at Cottage Grove Avenue is a great example of how the city and its constituents can work together to improve the livability of a small corner of Cedar Rapids.
As our group of residents elicited input from the community - and in turn the community provided feedback to the city - we had many occasions to interact with 'City Hall.” While one often hears that 'you can't fight City Hall,” we experienced the opposite; at each level, we found professional, responsive and thoughtful people that valued our help in assuring that the neighborhood's concerns were heard. This collaboration ultimately led to reversing the city's plans to install a roundabout at Cottage Grove and Forest. Thank you.
