Surviving are her husband, Howard "Ed"; children, Mitchell (Sandy) Hurt of Central City, Mark (Jill) Hurt of Marion, Lora (Phil) Nielsen of Central City and Linda (Bruce) Carr of Floyd, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, Athena, Shelby, Derek, Autumn, Dylan, Mason, Meghan, Justin, Hannah, Josiah and Brodie; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Larry (Peggy) Thompson of Los Angeles; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Molly Driscoll; and a brother, Jim Thompson.
Dolly was born Oct. 25, 1936, in Robins, Iowa, the daughter of Verl and Mary Morrison Thompson. She married Howard "Ed" Hurt on June 12, 1955, in Marion. The couple lived in Fort Benning, Ga., while Ed was in the Army and then moved back to Marion. In 1964, the couple bought a farm in Central City, then in 1976, built a house in Center Point.
Dolly worked at Wilson's Meat Packaging, Alburnett Locker, Jet Drive Inn, Rockwood's General Store (Bucky's), then Rockwell Collins until she retired in December 1991.
She enjoyed painting and drawing, ceramics, gardening, sewing, cooking, fishing and had a tremendous love for music and dancing. But the thing she treasured most was the time she was given to spend with her family and loved ones.
Dolly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
