RoughRiders trade Rutherford to Tri-City

CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders traded forward Collin Rutherford to the Tri-City Storm on Tuesday for forward Sam Sternschein.
Rutherford played in one game for the Riders, last Saturday night against Sioux Falls. He went pointless and had a plus-minus rating of minus-1.
Sternschein, 17, is a Cornell University commit from Syosset, N.Y., who had one assist in eight games for Tri-City. He was a ‘C' skater in NHL Central Scouting's first list of potentional NHL draft picks in 2016, meaning he is possibly a fourth to sixth-round selection.
The RoughRiders slipped to third in the latest United States Hockey League Power Rankings, as released by USA Hockey Magazine. The Gazette's Jeff Johnson votes on the poll.
The Lincoln Stars are No. 1 in the power rankings, a leap of 16 places from the preseseason rankings. Dubuque is next, followed by Cedar Rapids, Omaha and Madison.
The rest of the poll is Sioux City (6), Sioux Falls (7), Tri-City (8), Youngstown (9), Bloomington (10), Fargo (11), Team USA (12), Chicago (13), Green Bay (14), Waterloo (15), Des Moines (16) and Muskegon (17).
The RoughRiders host Bloomington on Friday night and Des Moines on Saturday night.
