Robert Eugene Schott, 85, of Tipton, entered eternal rest on Sept. 16, 2015, at Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty, Iowa. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Iowa City, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 3 p.m., at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, Iowa. Burial will be held at Woodbridge Cemetery in Tipton. Memorials, in honor of Robert, shall be directed to Iowa Right to Life. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Robert was born Aug. 16, 1930, in Thorpe, Wis., son of Arthur and Rena (Carpenter) Schott. He attended Lisbon school prior to his joining the U.S. Army and proudly serving his country. Robert was united in marriage to Margery Ann (Arnold) Schott and was a farmer for many years to follow. Later on in his life, Robert moved to Key Colony Beach, Fla., and pursued his passion for boating, fishing and being a mechanic. He also served as president of the Moose Lodge 1058 and spent time volunteering for Fishermen's Hospital in Key West, Fla. Robert returned to Iowa in 2013.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Karen Harmon, Tipton, Melanie (Barry) Langley, Wilton, and Mary Sue Schott, Pittsburgh, Pa.; sons, John (Kathy) Schott, Tipton, Ronald (Becky) Schott, Tipton, Kenneth (Laura) Schott, Tipton, and Thomas (Lori) Schott, Tipton; 16 grandchildren; 13 (and one on the way) great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Rena Schott; former wife, Margery; brothers, Harry, Art, Howard and Frank Schott; and sister, Grace Herbert.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty, Iowa, for the care and support shown to Robert for the duration of his stay.
