Hunter Daniel Morin, 12, formerly of Norway, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a courageous battle with cancer. Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Vinton by the Rev. Ardel Barta. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, 3100 F Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids.
Hunter is survived by his parents, Marcus and Amy of Vinton; two sisters, Gracie of Vinton and Jade of Muskegon, Mich.; grandparents Mike and Sherri Morin of Lutz, Fla., Debbie Peterson of Tampa, Fla., and Don Peterson of Fort Dodge; great-grandparents John and Barbara Wingard of Myakka, Fla.; uncles and aunt, John-Michael and Amanda Morin of Brooksville, Fla., and Wesley David Morin of Lutz, Fla.; cousins Hannah Morin of Brooksville, Fla., and Emily Morin of Lutz, Fla.; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his dog, Loki.
Hunter was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Malvina and Tanner Peterson and Wilbur and Davida Morin.
Hunter was born June 15, 2001, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Marcus and Amy (Peterson) Morin. He was in the seventh grade at Benton Middle School, Van Horne.
Hunter loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and finding sticks. He also loved to play football, read, build with LEGOS and learn about history. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family.
