Bevins, Ruth Margaret
Ruth Margaret Bevins, 90, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Vinton, died Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Living Center West in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton, with Father Ardel Barta as Celebrant. Friends may register at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. To honor Ruth's request, the casket will remain closed at all times. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth was born May 11, 1922, at Vinton to Otto and Rose (Brehm) Knaack and graduated from the Lincoln High School in Vinton. On June 3, 1940, she was united in marriage to Clarence Leo Bevins at Vinton. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion.
Ruth is survived by her son, Jack (Connie) Bevins of Cedar Rapids; her daughters, Debra (Curt) Baker of Hiawatha and Cheryl Bevins, of Marion; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Esther (Earl) Rinderknecht of Urbana.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sons and eight brothers.
A memorial fund has been established.
