Farley, Carol I.
Carol I. Farley, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died at Hiawatha Care Center, Monday, Feb, 13, 2012. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by the Rev. Bob Voels of Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Carol is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dick; son, Keith (Sheryl) Farley of Pine Cliff, Colo.; daughter, Susan (Edward II) Smith of Nashotah, Wis.; grandsons, Blayne (Molly) Smith, Dustin (Julie) Smith, Edward III (Megan) Smith, and Dane (Deborah) Whisenant; a brother, Tom Barta of Ames; and four great-grandchildren, Kieran, Rowan, Grady and Edward IV.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Carol was born March 23, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, to Arnold and Agnes Barta. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1946 and married John Richard “Dick” Farley on April 3, 1949. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Keystone Class. Carol liked to travel, cook and do needlework but her greatest love was for her family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mary Anne Nelson and the staff at the Hiawatha Care Center for the loving care given to Carol.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church.
