Dlouhy, Velma L.
Velma L. Dlouhy, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, by the Rev. William B. Harnish. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas (Cathy) Dlouhy and Daryl Dlouhy; grandchildren, Jason, Alyssa and Emily Dlouhy; sister, Bernice (Milford) Collingwood; sister-in-law, Helen Barta; and her dog, “Champ.”
She was preceded in death by her brother, Elmer Barta; and special friend, Jerome “Rome” Welter.
Velma was born March 30, 1938, in Linn County to Louis and Emily Fisher Barta. She worked for First Trust & Savings Bank for over 38 years. She was a member of the Eagles Club and the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library. She was an avid Cubs fan and loved to cook.
