Judith "Judy" Barta, 74, of Marion, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Mercy
Medical Center, Cedar
Rapids, following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Entombment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Judy is survived by her three daughters, Pamela (Gary) Kacena of Marion, Sherrie (Chuck) Throck-morton of Houston, Texas, and Melissa (Todd) Kopperud of Owatonna, Minn.; six grandchildren, Samantha, Devin, Raymond, Amanda, Derek and Kyle; a brother, John (Diane) Moore of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Joyce Moore (Paula Jantz) of Iowa City; many loving nieces and nephews; and her special companion, her dog, Maggie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Barta; parents; and a brother, Laurence Moore.
Judy Barta was born March 10, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John and Kathryn (Johns) Moore. She married Raymond Barta on Dec. 10, 1960, in
Arlington Heights, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Judy worked as a registered nurse and worked beside her husband at J&R Apco.
Judy loved knitting, reading romance novels, online gaming and playing the slot machines at the casinos, but her greatest love was her family. Known as "Tudy" to her grandchildren, she was very active in their lives.
Judy was fun-loving and nurturing and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorials may be directed to the family which will be donated to a charity in Judy's honor.
