Iowa City Police looking for driver in hit-and-run collision with 12-year-old pedestrian

IOWA CITY - Police in Iowa City are searching for more information about the driver who was in a hit-and-run involving a 12-year-old boy Tuesday afternoon.
Officers received a report at 3:23 p.m. about a hit-and-run accident at Governor and Burlington streets about 10 minutes before the call came in, according to a media release from the Iowa City Police Department.
The boy told police he was struck and knocked to the ground by a white van traveling west on Burlington Street. Police received further reports that the driver stopped the van and waited until the boy got to his feet, assisted by an unknown witness, before continuing north on Governor Street.
The Iowa City Police Department is looking to identify the driver of the vehicle as well as the passerby who helped the boy, according to the release. Police are urging those with information to contact the Iowa City police at (319) 356-5276.
