ROSE MARIE EVERTS
Prairie du Chien, Wis.
Rose Marie Everts, 84, of Prairie du Chien, Wis., beloved wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma, passed away suddenly after a recent fall on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Mayo Franciscan Healthcare Center in La Crosse, Wis.
She was born Nov. 8, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of William and Josephine (Dostal) Miller. She married the love of her life, Charles Everts, on Oct. 26, 1949, in Cedar Rapids. Rose worked at Wilson Meat Co. for many years and later managed Dale's Fruit Market in Cedar Rapids. She later made beautiful crafts and displayed them at Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids.
In 1999, Rose and Chuck moved to Prairie du Chien, where her favorite job was sitting on her deck overlooking the Mississippi River.
Rose loved to go to the casino, play cards and tend to her flowers, but her life revolved around her family. Her greatest joy was when everyone would come to visit at "the river."
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Chuck Everts of Prairie du Chien; her daughter, Sherry (Steve) Slife, and their children, Jeff Slife, and his daughter, Miranda Rose Slife, and Jenny (Keith) Coleman, and their sons, Drake and Dylan; her daughter, JoAnn (Blair Dillman) Evans, and her children, David Evans, and his children, Stephen and Charlie; and Jodi Evans, with her children, Maddi Rose and Sammy; her brothers, Kenny Miller and Jim Falt, both of Cedar Rapids; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Stotz of Billings, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dave Miller.
A memorial visitation will be Monday, March 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien. A private family inurnment will be later in Prairie du Chien Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
