Morris, Mabel E.
Mabel E. Morris, 98, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, April 14, 2012, at her home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at the funeral home. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Midway.
Survivors include her children, Loretta M. (Bruce Huddle) Abraham of Lamont, Iowa and Roland W. Morris of Cedar Rapids; sister, Lois Swallom of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Becky (David) Wagner, Cindy (Brian) Doyle, Mary Abraham, Vickie (Rick) Cooper, Freddie (Shelly) Morris, Leia Martin and William (Sally) Morris; great-grandchildren, Laura Wagner, C.J. Wagner, Jason Keniston, Jami Gordon, Vincent Nolan, Anna Nolan, Aimee Price, Stacie James, Spencer, Britany and Nikelle Morris, Cali Martin, Samantha Sprosten, and Jenna, William, Andrew, Kayla and Joel Morris; and great-great-grandchildren, Malachi Moser, Joseph Gordon, Aiden Price, Jesse James and Isabella Sprosten.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; three brothers, Harold, Ralph and Robert Swallom; and two sisters, Mildred Coleman and Gladys Swallom.
Born Oct. 21, 1913, in Palo, Iowa, Mabel was the daughter of William and Gertrude (Deseve) Swallom. On June 14, 1930, she was united in marriage to Fred Morris. He died Oct. 20, 2001. Mabel farmed with her husband.
Mabel enjoyed fishing with Fred and working in her garden.
Memorials may be made in Mabel's memory to St. Luke's Hospice, 290 Blairsferry Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
