Some of the reasons people move to Iowa, especially from urban areas, are obvious - more job opportunities, better schools and lower crime.
But a complete picture of those who relocate here might be more complex. On April 9, the federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's Dr. Marva Williams will address this and other economic issues as the keynote speaker at the Business 380 Excellence Business and Breakfast speaker and networking event.
By presenting an enhanced and more up-to-date profile of Iowans, Williams will provide attendees with a better understanding of the state's prospects as well as opportunities for various business segments.
An urban economic development researcher by training, Williams designed and implemented the Great Neighborhoods Program, a comprehensive community development initiative of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation of Chicago.
Today, as an economic development director with the Fed, she is responsible for promoting a better understanding of community development and consumer finance by engaging in applied research and providing outreach to banks and other financial institutions, community-based organizations and government agencies. She has been tasked with keeping tabs on economic-development trends in Iowa.
The Better Business Bureau will be presenting sponsor for the Business 380 event. the University of Iowa Community Credit Union and Wright Touch Catering will be breakfast sponsors.
