Richard "Dick" Leo Porazil, 78, of Fairfax, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at his home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Private family services will be at Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Richard was born June 4, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Leo Joseph and Lillian Marie (Priborsky) Porazil. He married Doris Mae Harger on Sept. 15, 1953, in Iowa City. Dick worked as a plumber for many years at Waterhouse Water Conditioning in Hiawatha until retiring in 2001.
Dick enjoyed carpentry, fixing anything, fishing, gardening, walking the trails, and most of all the time spent with his family.
Richard is survived by his wife, Doris, of over 61 years; his children, Rick (Sheri) Porazil of Solon, Robin (Mark) Murphy of Friendswood, Texas, and Ronda (Jerry) Wauters of Belle Plaine; four grand-children, Randa Ryckeghem, Rick (Michelle) Porazil Jr., Heather (Matt) Stewart and Zach (Melissa) Murphy; eight great-grandchildren, Ryan, Zach, Jacob, Destiny, Sadie, Karlee, Maddie and Aiden; a brother, Ron (Pat) Porazil of Belle Plaine; and his beloved pet, Sophie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Robert Porazil.
