DONALD "DONNIE" E. GILLICK

Donald "Donnie" E. Gillick, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Graveside service: 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Donnie was born Sept. 16, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, the son of James and Florence (Strauss) Gillick. On July 22, 1972, Donnie was united in marriage to Julianne "Julie" Ament. He worked as a janitor for most of his life. Donnie attended St. Matthew Catholic Church. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, like riding motorcycles, working on crafts and fixing bicycles. Donnie loved his dogs. He will be missed by his friends.
Donnie is survived by his brother, John (Sheila) Gillick of Faribault, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Florence Gillick; and wife, Julie Gillick in 2008.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the Emergency Department and ICU staffs at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital and all of Donnie's caregivers.
