Gates, George F.
George F. Gates, 85, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at West Village Care Center in Independence from a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4, at Church of Christ United, Winthrop. Inurnment will be at a later date at Wilson Cemetery, east of Independence. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta of Independence; his three daughters, Nancy (Bob) Gates-Lee of Lighthouse Point, Fla., Darcy (Jim) Fangman of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., and Tracy (Bill) Reed of Marion; three stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother.
