Stanley Joseph Finn, 82, of Albany, Ore., died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at his home. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home in Albany, Ore. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 25, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Private burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore.
He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Francis and Hannah (Foulks) Finn. Stanley was raised in Cedar Rapids and graduated from high school there. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He married Gladys L. Linam in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, on March 28, 1965. Stanley worked in hydroelectric dam construction on the Yellow Tail Dam in Montana, Green Peter and Foster dams, the Dwarf shack dam on the Snake River, and as a locksmith for the Albany School District, retiring in 1993.
He enjoyed restoring cars, woodworking, camping and fishing. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, American Legion Post 10, and a past member of the Eagles Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Louise Finn of Albany; son, Michael Finn of Ontario; sister, Jean Barger of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Amanda and husband Charlie Hobson of Albany; and great-granddaughters, Taylor and Madison Hobson of Albany.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Jepsen; and four brothers, Frank, Allan, Norman and David Finn.
