Deck, Bradford John 'Pops'
Bradford John “Pops” Deck, 62, of Marion, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2011. Per Brad's wishes, there will not be a formal funeral service. An informal gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
Survivors include his sons, Jim (Kelli) Deck and Steve (Cami) Deck; stepchildren, Nick and Sarah Kelly; foster sons, Dwight and David Kellicut; grandchildren, Bradford, Matthew, McKenzie, Kayla, Brandon (Sara), Shane and Jace; great-grandchildren, Grace and Atlee; brothers, Gene (Char) Deck and Bill Deck; and nieces and nephews, Wanda (Mark) Reyhons, Shelly Deck, Wendy Henderson and Mike (Summer) Deck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Scott.
Brad was born June 8, 1949, in Decorah, the son of Francis Milton and Betty Jean (Berg) Deck. Brad was a long-time resident of Marion, and graduated from Marion High School in 1968. He then went to Arizona and worked in the mines for a short time before returning home. Brad worked at Lefebure for 25 years and then later as a professional estimator until his retirement on June 17, 2011. Brad was enjoying life by fishing and playing Cribbage with the boys at the “shop.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Brad's memory.
