Harvey, Ramona Hope
Ramona Hope Harvey, 79, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Oak Grove Church near Shellsburg with Pastor Larry Rodgers officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. A memorial fund has been established.
Ramona was born April 25, 1933, in Palo to Herbert and Hollis (Hatfield) Hayes. On Dec. 5, 1954, she was united in marriage to Richard W. Harvey in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1998.
She worked at CRST before her retirement. Ramona volunteered for the Adopt-A-Grandma Program at the Olivet Mission Head Start Program. Ramona was a member of Oak Grove Church near Shellsburg and the Sorosis and Homemakers clubs. She was also a past president of the Benton County Farm Bureau. Her greatest joy in life came from her role as Grandma and Great-Grandma.
She is survived by her sons, Randy (Donna) Harvey of Sycamore, Ill., and Russ (Sharon) Harvey of Shellsburg; her daughters, Roxann Von Lienen and Raejean (Dan) White, all of Cedar Rapids; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Marion (David) Foster of Oregon, and Peggy (Charlie) Rupe of Bloomfield; and her dog, Oliver.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Newman; and her brothers, Harold, Frank and James Hayes.
