Violet P. Aldrich, 93, of Village Place in Marion, died there Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar
Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Janie) Manley of Shellsburg and Kenneth (Paula) Manley of Kalamazoo, Mich.; three grandchildren, Mark and Amy Manley and Michelle VonSprecken; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her three husbands; a grandson, Michael; one brother and five sisters.
Violet was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Mercer County, Ill., the daughter of Edward and Julia Petersen Bonynge. She graduated from high school in Aledo, Ill., and later from Coe College in Cedar Rapids. She married Kenneth Walkup in Davenport in 1946. Ken passed away in 1951. She later married Harry Manley in Illinois in 1953. Harry passed away in 1971. She then married Elmer L. Aldrich in Marion in 1973. Elmer passed away in 1998.
Violet taught elementary school for over 32 years in Davenport and later in Marion, retiring in 1973.
She was a member of the Marion United Methodist Church, enjoyed travel and collecting antiques.
Violet was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice Compassus.
