Sparrgrove, Anne G. Rodgers
Anne G. Rodgers Sparrgrove, 77, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011, in her home after a long battle with cancer.
Anne was born March 20, 1934, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Lyle and Mary Rodgers. She married Lyle Wayne Sparrgrove on Dec. 18, 1954. They had two children, Vicky Marie and Craig Allen.
Survivors include her husband, Lyle, a son, Craig (Barbara) Sparrgrove of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Kyle, Shannon and Brody, all Phoenix; a sister, Virginia Dahl of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Francis (Doris) Rodgers of Waterloo, Bob (Robin) Rodgers of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Lyle Jr. (Judith) Rodgers of Surprise, Ariz.; three nieces; 10 nephews; and numerous great-nephews and nieces.
Her parents; her daughter, Vicky; two brothers, Joe and Wayne Rodgers; and one niece, Mary Ann Dahl, preceded Anne in death.
Anne was a devoted wife for 56 years, a wonderful mother and grandmother. She delighted in her grandchildren who called her “Cookie Grandma.”
She cherished her friends, especially her two BFFs, Donna Parquette and Vicki Turek, who have been caring for her at her home during her last days as promised until God called her home.
Anne was an avid reader and loved old movies. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Anne's names to: Grace Hospice, 4515 S. McClintock Dr. #210, Tempe, AZ 85282.
A very special thanks to Therese and Emily the hospice nurses, also aides Angel and Mary who took special care of care of Anne.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley Rd., Phoenix, for friends and family.
