Lucile Deepe Hoak, 102, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Elkhart, Ind., passed away Aug. 11, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. In honor of Lucile's 103rd birthday, graveside services will take place on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Lucile is survived by her children, Dale (Jean) Hoak of Kansas City, Mo., Rita (Bill) Stewig of Marion and D. Robert (Anita) Hoak of Brownsville, Texas; seven grandchildren, Anne (Jeff) Justice, Stephen (Jennifer) Hoak, Elizabeth (Joe) Hillebrand, Nancy Stewig, Jenny (Brent) Williams, Suzanne Hoak and Julie (Rick) Leonard; and eight great-grandchildren, Aaron (Marissa) Hoak, Jacob Hoak, Adam Hoak, Jacob Hillebrand, Anna Hillebrand, Isaac Leonard, Peyton Leonard and Rachael Williams.
Lucile was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; three brothers; and two sisters.
Lucile was born Sept. 10, 1913, in Tecumseh, Mich., the daughter of Lewis and Mary (Kuhn) Deepe. She graduated from high school in Defiance, Ohio. Lucile married Donald D. Hoak on May 30, 1935, in Defiance. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Elkhart. Lucile was a homemaker, who loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. Lucile liked to keep busy with word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.

Lucile's family would like to give a special thanks to the staff for the care and support over the last 18 years at Garnett Place. Also, thanks to Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, and Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, for their compassion and comfort.
