Norma Jean Johnson, 65, of Marion, formerly of Robins and Walker, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy from complications of M.S. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Lafayette Christian Church in Alburnett by Pastor Samuel Dronebarger. Per Norma's request, guests are requested to wear brightly colored casual clothing. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Duane; children, Teresa (James) LaMere of Cedar Rapids, Nathan (Nicole) Johnson of Lafayette, Laura (Brett) Gordon of Lafayette and Connie (Chad) Quaas of Alburnett; her father, Clarence Joyce of Walker; her sisters, Nadine (Steve) Smith and Marlene (Denny) Mills, both of Walker; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her mother and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Norma was born May 1, 1950, in Independence, Iowa, to Clarence and Hazel (Alden) Joyce. After graduating from North Linn High School in 1968, she married Duane R. Johnson on April 12, 1969, in Walker. Norma was a homemaker and was an active member and volunteer at Lafayette Christian Church. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Norma loved traveling, baking, sewing and will be remembered for her wonderful sense of faith. She was a 35-plus-year member of her card club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lafayette Christian Church in Norma's memory.
