Dixie Lee Meeks, 80, of Belle Plaine, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Christ United Methodist Church in Belle Plaine with Pastor Steven Hubbell officiating. Burial will take place at Walker Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Hrabak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Dixie was born Jan. 17, 1936, in Marengo, Iowa. She graduated from a country school and went on to get her CNA degree from Kirkwood Community College. She was a housewife and worked for many years as a CNA at Rose Haven Nursing Home, in Marengo. Dixie was married to Richard Meeks on Dec. 28, 1957. They were married for 33 years. Dixie enjoyed crafts, puzzles, gardening, making homemade candy and canning.
Dixie is survived by her two brothers, Orville John (Ruth) Jacobs of Altoona and Robert (Sharon) Jacobs of Ladora; five children, Darrell (Teresa Lucas) Meeks, Donald Meeks and Delbert (Bonnie) Meeks, all of Belle Plaine, Dennis (Kaeleen Pearsall) Meeks of Hillsboro, Wis., and Kathryn (Ty Rose) Nerio of Oklahoma City, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Violet Jacobs; ex-husband, Richard Meeks; sister, Wanda O'Dell; and brother, Kenneth Jacobs.
