Lee Eugene Shaffer of Glenwood, formerly of Anamosa, died Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Jennie Edmonson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs following an extended illness. Graveside memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, at Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa. Pastor Marty Schuhmacher will officiate
at the service. Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, has taken Lee into their care.
Lee is survived by a brother, Dwayne (Carolyn) Shaffer of Greentop, Mo.; a sister, Lynne Shaffer Kepros of Springville; two nephews, Aaron (Tamara) Shaffer of St. Charles, Mo., and Richard Kepros of Springville; three nieces, Shawn (John) Wichmann of Kirsville, Mo., April (Felipe) Montiel of Garland, Texas, and the Rev. Jamie Kepros (Sharon) of Bellingham, Wash.; one great-nephew, Quinn Miller of Garland; and eight great-nieces, Sadye (Andre) Naeger of Colorado, Laurel, Chloe and Audrey Wichmann of Kirksville, Abby and Emma Shaffer of St. Charles and Helen and Vivian Miller of Garland.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Helen (Shoop) Shaffer of Anamosa; and three brothers, Harold Lynn, David Richard and Verlon Edward.
He was born March 18, 1940, in Anamosa, spending his early years in the home. Later years were spent in special needs facilities.
