MARY ANN (FANK) KACERE
Cedar Rapids
Mary Ann (Fank) Kacere, 59, of Cedar Rapids, courageously lost her battle with a very rare and deadly cancer, known as sacral chordoma. Mary battled cancer for seven years, fighting through pain that most people never could imagine.
Mary was born Nov. 17, 1958, in Winthrop, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Jean Fank. Mary married Louis Kacere in 1982. She worked at Firstar Bank, Collins Community Credit Union, Frontier and Community First Credit Union.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Kacere; children, Eric and Chad (Natasha); sister and best friend, Dianne Fank; brothers, John Fank, Ron (Polly) Fank and Gary (Michele) Fank; grandsons, Kellan and Asher (the two most important people in her life); and nieces, nephews, extended relatives; and dear friends.
Mary cherished every moment with her grandsons, they did more for her than any doctor or medicine could. Her pain always seemed to disappear whenever she was with them. Kellan and Asher, your MeMa will watch over you, always and forever.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Jean Fank; in-laws, Lou and Donna Kacere; and Roy.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW in Cedar Rapids. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, followed by a casual gathering for family and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Avacentre at Brosh Chapel.
From Louie and Dianne; A very special thanks to the Mercy Hospice House, the most wonderful people we've ever been associated with.
