Sophia Wilcox, 84, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at her home following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Hopkinton Community Church. Interment: Hopkinton Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, is caring for Sophia and her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hopkinton Fire and Ambulance Service, Hopkinton Senior Meals or a charity of choice.
Surviving are three children, LeeAnn (Pete) Manson and Rob Wilcox, both of Hopkinton, and Mike (Racheal) Wilcox, Chaska, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Robert J. and Dalton Wilcox, Tim Newman and Krystie Manson, and Solomon, Martin and Barbara Wilcox; one great-granddaughter, Arrianna Jones; two brothers, Duke (Priscila) Langanis and Steve (Ruth) Langas; two brothers-in-law, Steve (Darlene) Wilcox and John (Bud) Coyle; and two sisters-in-law, Betty and Marilyn Langas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert John Wilcox; two brothers, George and Phil Langas; and two sisters-in-law, Roberta Coyle and Marleen Herrington.
Sophie Anastacia Langas was born Jan. 6, 1933, at Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Tom and Idella Brazee Langas. Sophia graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. She worked for her father at the Victory Cafe. Sophia met her future husband while rollerskating in Dubuque. She married Robert J. Wilcox on Oct. 18, 1958, in Monticello, Iowa. The couple lived in Hopkinton and operated the R&S Trading Post and worked flea markets all over the Midwest. They were married for 48 years before Robert was called to a new home.
Through the years, Sophia enjoyed taking karate lessons, rollerskating, playing cards and working with plastic crafts. Sophia served on the church council and helped with vacation Bible school and the senior meal program. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and having cookouts.
