Virginia "Ginny" Anne Roberson, 82, of Iowa City, died Monday, March 16, 2015, at Legacy Senior Living Community. Celebration of Life services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Brosh Chapel in Solon, located at 100 S. Cedar St., with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery in Solon. Virginia was born July 19, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Rose Holland. She graduated from Tipton High School and the University of Iowa with a degree in sociology. She was united in marriage in 1960 with Jerome "Jerry" Roberson.
Ginny was an avid reader and a whiz at crossword puzzles and the game show "Jeopardy." She loved to garden and travel. Some of her favorite times were spent camping with family, where she'd fish, play cards, and make the most wonderful meals (and apple pie) for everyone. Her grandchildren called her Gran and she loved the time she spent with them. She also cherished time spent with her lifelong friends.
Ginny worked in the medical records library at the Iowa City VA Health Care System and later at ACT in Iowa City.
Ginny is survived by her daughters, Julie (Chuck) Roberson Bishop of Earlham and Joan (Bill) Karr of Marion; five grandchildren, Nathan (Amy), Hayley (Pat) and Brian (Jenny) Totten, McKayla and Madison Karr; and a former son-in-law, Phil Totten of Milwaukee, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; and her son, Morry Roberson.
Memorials may be directed to Iowa Humane Alliance in Cedar Rapids.
