Johnson, Richard N.
Richard N. Johnson, 79, of 1100 Linden Dr., Marion, formerly of rural Solon, died Monday, May 24, 2010, in St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Phil Jorgensen of Our Savior's Lutheran Church will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include three sons, Cary of Cedar Rapids, Bryan and wife Laura of Maple Valley, Wash., and Bruce and wife Jan of Williamsburg; three grandchildren, Alicia, Kara and Justin; and three brothers, Reinhold and wife Pat of Tower, Minn., Eugene and wife Wanda of Amery, Wis., and Lawrence and wife Debbie of Two Harbors, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, Walter.
Richard was born August 26, 1930, in Tower, Minn., to Walter and Theresa Trucano Johnson. He married Velva Brandt on May 18, 1957 in Dubuque, Iowa. She died Feb. 5, 2005. He was a field engineer for IBM. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and bird watching.
Military honors by Marion American Legion Post 298.
