Rogness, Katherine Louise
Katherine Louise Rogness, 93, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Washington County Hospital in Washington.
She was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the daughter of Louis and Signe (Lundquist) Ostrom. She graduated from Washington High School and business college. On Oct. 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Norril A. Rogness in Sioux Falls, S.D. They made their home in Ames from 1960-1967 and then moved to Cedar Rapids, where Katherine resided until moving to Washington in 2008. Katherine was a homemaker and she enjoyed playing Bridge. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
She is survived by a son, Chuck (Jody) Rogness of Kalona; a daughter, Mary (Phil) Viernes of Roselle, Ill.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dinney Kruck of Scottsdale, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, James Rogness; a stepsister, Esther Kiner; and a stepbrother, Paul Ostrom.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Pastor Phil Jorgenson will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Hills of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux Falls, S.D. The family will greet friends following the service. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established for Camp Courageous.
