CEDAR RAPIDS - Cedar Rapids police are looking for a driver who hit and critically injured a motorcyclist Sunday afternoon.
The crash involving a single car and a motorcycle was reported at 3:17 p.m. Sunday at 20th Avenue and C Street SW, according to a news release. The motorcyclist was critically injured and taken to a hospital. The car's driver, who was not identified, fled on foot, so the crash is considered a hit-and-run, police said.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members. Emergency workers remained on scene as of Sunday afternoon, and officials recommended that drivers take an alternate route.
Police are seeking the public's help to find the car's driver. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME (272-7463) or text to CRIMES (274637) and in the message/subject, type 5227 and your tip. Information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward.
