USHL considers franchise in Bloomington, Illinois

The United States Hockey League officially announced Tuesday it is considering adding a franchise in Bloomington, Ill. The city has a 6,000-seat arena called the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
The Bloomington Thunder played there this season, a lower-level minor-league club in the Southern Professional Hockey League.
The league said it is looking at a 2014-15 season entrance for Bloomington. The USHL already has one expansion franchise slated to begin play next season in Madison, Wis.
Word is, however, the Indiana Ice will go dormant after this season because of an ECHL professional team moving to Indianapolis.
