Cathy Ann Tiernan, 60, of Marion, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion.
Cathy was born March 3, 1958, the daughter of Mark & Donna (Eganhouse) Brust, in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Prairie High School in 1976 and attended Kirkwood Community College. On Aug. 12, 1977, she married Ralph Tiernan in Seward, Alaska. Cathy was a dedicated nurse for 38 years, currently working at Manor Care in Cedar Rapids. Cathy enjoyed traveling to the beach.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph of Marion; two sons, Nathan (Hillary) of Marion and David (Stephanie) of Van Horne; five grandchildren, Zachary, Gavin, Myles, Wiatt and Olivia; two sisters, Susan (Jerry Shramek) Viall of Van Horne and Mary (Greg) Bender of Magnolia, Texas; and her mother-in-law, Mae Kruse of Williamsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Cathy's memory.
