Marcus Lee Haley, 60, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 11, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at the Springville Community Center.
Survivors include his parents, Douglas and Wanda Haley of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Carolyn Jose of San Antonio; daughter, Laura (Dermot) Conner of Houston, Texas; son, Nathan Haley of Houston; grandchildren, Bella and Brendan Conner; and life partner, Danelle Meppelink of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leonard and Vonnie Haley; and maternal grandparents, T.G. and Lela Tapp.
Marcus was born April 26, 1955, the son of Douglas and Wanda (Tapp) Haley in Dallas, Texas. He served in the United States Navy and worked as a surgical tech for many years. He was previously married to Chris Haley (mother of his children) and Maria Haley and was currently with Danelle Meppelink and her three sons at the time of his death.
Marcus had an avid love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. Marcus had a passion for knowledge and was always willing to learn. He never knew a stranger and was kind and helpful to everyone.
