A Coralville man is accused of confronting another man with a machete early Wednesday.
Israel L. Linares, 39, of 1616 Fifth St., Apt. 7, is charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
Linares, armed with a machete, went to his girlfriend's apartment, at 922 20th Ave. Place, Apt. 4, Coralville, at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, the Johnson County Sheriff's Department reported.
Linares swung the machete at his girlfriend's ex-husband when the man opened the door, deputies reported. The ex-husband tried to close the door, but Linares stepped across the threshold into the apartment and tried to reach around the door with the machete, deputies said.
Linares is being held in the Johnson County Jail on $100,000 cash bond.
