Danny Joe Emig, 66, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Jordan's Grove Cemetery, rural Central City.
Danny is survived by his life partner, with whom he shared a home, Sheri Chapman of Ely; his sons, David (Laura) Emig of Mount Vernon, Mike Emig of Fairfax and Scott (Denise) Emig of Ely; a daughter, Rachael (Shawn Stecklein) Emig of Independence; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Kory), Paige, Nicholas, Ashley, Alex, Bryan and Travis; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard Emig and Charlie Emig, both of Marion. He also is survived by his loving dog, Kaylee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Emig.
Danny was born June 3, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Harold and Mary (McCracken) Emig. He owned and operated Trailer Transfer Service for over 30 years. Danny worked diligently to fulfill his love of farming by restoring and rebuilding the farm and a dream home to raise cattle and crops.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Danny Emig Memorial Fund for the family to designate.
