Jim and Bridget Johnson sold Anamosa weekly newspaper the Journal-Eureka and its shopper, the Town Crier, to Dubuque-based Woodward Communications, as of Aug. 1.
The paper and shopper join more than two dozen similar publications that make up the company's Woodward Community Media division.
In September of last year, Woodward bought West Branch Communications, which includes the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Sun, Solon Economist, West Liberty Index, West Branch Times, North Liberty Leader, Marion Times and Linn News-Letter, as well as associated publications.
The Johnsons purchased the Journal-Eureka, which reports some 2,300 readers, from Wisconsin-based News Publishing in 2012.
