Tipton
Gary Lee Hubler, 69, of Tipton, passed away from a heart attack at home Thursday, June 25, 2015. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Cedar Street Baptist Church, Tipton, by Pastor Brian Wilkins.
Burial: Woodbridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Luncheon will follow at the church.
Gary was born March 3, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, son of Kenneth and Velma Williams) Hubler. He graduated from West Branch High School in 1965. Then he was drafted and entered the Army on Dec. 15, 1965, serving in Vietnam with the 1st Calvary 5th and 2nd units through December 1967. On Feb. 7, 1969, he was united in marriage with Betty Jean Anderson, the love of his life.
He had been employed with the Iowa City VA Healthcare System in housekeeping; Goss as an assembler and Rhoners Machine Works as a maintenance foreman and welder.
He was a member and deacon of Cedar Street Baptist Church in Tipton, the VFW and lifetime member of NRA. He enjoyed deer hunting – he was known as "Sure Shot" – racing, flowers, dancing, farming, traveling, cars and animals. Most of all, he loved his family and friends and loved kidding around with everyone.
He will be deeply missed by all who he touched with his warm smile and kindness.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hubler; son, Brant (Rhonda) Hubler, and grandson, Jessy Hubler, both of West Branch; brothers and sister, Kenneth (Kristeen) Hubler Jr. of St. Helens, Ore., Sharon (Leo) Ford of Tipton, Allen (Patty) Hubler of Tipton and Darrell Hubler of West Branch; sister-in-law, Gloria Hubler of West Branch; Nytasha, Keynan and Jaylin, whom he thought of as grandkids; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dean Hubler and Dale Hubler.
