Glennis D. Nissen, 84, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at St. John Lutheran
Church in Keystone, with the Rev. B. Andrew Wright officiating. Interment will be at Keystone Cemetery. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday.
A memorial fund has been established.
Glennis was born Feb. 5, 1931, in Vinton to Louis and Velma (Gulick) Selken, and graduated from Van Horne High School in 1950. She was employed at State Bank of Vinton before her marriage.
On Jan. 15, 1956, she was united in marriage to Robert Paul Nissen at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. The couple farmed and raised livestock in the Keystone area. Robert preceded her in death on March 27, 2013.
Glennis was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. She served as a 4-H leader for 28 years and belonged to the Farm Bureau.
She enjoyed shopping, dancing and card clubs. Glennis loved spending time with her family, especially during the holidays.
Glennis is survived by her children, Teri (Randy) Geiger of Keystone, Barry Nissen of Keystone, Traci (Don) Stewart of Randall and Nanci (Dave) Parizek of Vining; her grandchildren, Devan (Tony) Lyne, Bobbi (Brian) Carrillo, Kelsie (Ben) Engelken, Kevin (Briana) Stewart, Cody Stewart, Casey Stewart and Dustin Stewart; her stepgrand-daughter, Makayle Parizek; and her great-grand-children, Alexis and Brooklyn Lyne, Olivia Stewart, Carson and Mia Stewart and Grayson Engelken.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Timothy and Thomas Nissen.
Her family wants to thank the Mercy Medical Center intensive care staff, especially Scott, and also the staff at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
