Nissen, Robert Paul
Robert Paul Nissen, 80, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at his residence following a sudden illness. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 1, at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone, with the Rev. B. Andrew Wright officiating. Interment will be held at Keystone Cemetery. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
A memorial fund has been established.
Robert was born June 18, 1932, on a farm near Keystone to Alvin and Gladys (Holst) Nissen. On Jan. 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Glennis Selken at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. Robert farmed and raised livestock in the Keystone area and also drove a school bus for 23 years for Benton Community Schools. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Keystone Turners, where he was very active in bowling league. For many years he served as a 4-H leader and he enjoyed watching auctions on RFD TV and baseball games.
He is survived by his wife, Glennis of Keystone; his children, Teri (Randy) Geiger of Keystone, Barry Nissen of Keystone, Traci (Don) Stewart of Randall and Nanci (Dave) Parizek of Vining; his grandchildren, Devan (Tony) Lyne, Bobbi (Brian) Carrillo, Kelsie (Ben) Engelken, Kevin (Briana) Stewart, Cody Stewart, Casey Stewart, and Dustin Stewart; his stepgranddaughter, Makayle Parizek; his great-grandchildren, Alexis and Brooklyn Lyne and Olivia and Carson Stewart; and his sister, Pearl (Vernon) Hagen of Newhall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Timothy and Thomas Nissen; and his sister, Gayle Nissen.
