Funk, Ione
Ione Funk, 99, of Center Point, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Rock Ridge Residential Care, Shellsburg. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at the United Methodist Church in Center Point. Pastor Michael Ellson will officiate, with burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids at 1:30 p.m. Friends may call at the church one hour before the service on Friday.
Survivors include her son, Larry (Donna) Funk of Vinton; grandchildren, Steven Funk, Michael Funk, Kristin (Greg) Hallberg and Jeffrey (Monica) Funk; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; her brother, Richard (Arlene) Willmott; and two sisters, Darlene Lerch and Donna Peacock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; parents, Ben and Jennie Willmott; brother, Charles “Merle” Willmott; and a sister, Dorsie Wright.
Ione was born Jan. 28, 1912, in Viola, Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Jennie (Ellis) Willmott. She married Howard Maxwell Funk on Feb. 27, 1937, in Central City, Iowa. Howard passed away June 9, 1980.
Ione was a homemaker with a huge farmer's heart; always willing to help anyone in their time of need. She loved planting her garden every year and would be happy as long as she was burning gas - whether in a car, truck, or tractor - she always loved driving.
She was a member of the Center Point United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Rock Ridge Residential Care in Shellsburg in Ione's name.
