CHARMAINE ANN (WALTER) EICKELBERG
Marion
Charmaine Ann (Walter) Eickelberg, 87, of Marion, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion. She was born Dec. 9, 1931, in McGregor, Iowa. Charmaine graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and was a first-grade teacher in Waterloo, Iowa, where she later met her husband Ernest (Ernie) Eickelberg at a dance. They were married June 9, 1956. They briefly lived in Algona, Iowa, before returning to northeast Iowa, settling in Cedar Rapids with their daughter Anne.
Charmaine worked as a homemaker, substitute teacher and Avon lady. They moved to Manchester, Iowa, in 1974. Charmaine discovered Bible studies, Christian Women's Club and Bible-based churches, and these communities became a lifelong priority and love for her. Charmaine and Ernie moved back to Cedar Rapids in 1983, where she continued to build and enjoy a large community of friends and fellow believers and share her faith with others.
One of Charmaine's biggest joys was entertaining; she prided herself on her excellent cooking, decorating and hosting skills. She was loved and admired by a very large group of friends for her caring and giving nature and bubbly personality. She will be greatly and deeply missed.
A celebration of Charmaine's life will be held at New Covenant Bible Church in Cedar Rapids at a later date. If you would like to pay a tribute to her life, please consider donating to organizations that help others in need.
