JERRY DEAN HARRIS
North English
Jerry Dean Harris was born June 17, 1932, near Millersburg, Iowa, the son of Wayne and Helen (Troutman) Harris. He graduated from North English High School in 1950. On Nov. 10, 1950, Jerry was united in marriage to Mary Lou Lockridge at the North English Christian Church. He was a lifelong farmer on the family farm. Jerry was a member of the North English Christian Church, where he served on the board and was a deacon. He was a member of the Cattlemen's Association, the North English Fire Department Board and Patron's Mutual Insurance Board, and was a former 4-H leader. He enjoyed working hard, preparing for "the hunters" each year and spending time with his family. Jerry died on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at Mercy Iowa City at the age of 86 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of North English; three children, Kathy Misel of Las Vegas, Nev., Terry (MaryKay) Harris of Lisbon and Tony (Pat) Harris of North English; nine grandchildren, Nickie (Dennis) Vitali, Brad (Laura) Vetter, Toni (Chad) Wiesenhofer, Scott (Katie) Vetter, Adam (Luci) Harris, Holli (Ryan) Jordan, Quincy (Katie) Harris, Gabe (Jourdan) Harris and April (Justus) Harris; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Joan) Harris of North English; and two sisters, Carma Septer of Tiffin and Mary Ann Fuller of Keswick.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kristi Harris; and a son-in-law, Robert Misel.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Pastor Luke Caster will officiate. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Memorials may be given to the North English Christian Church, North English Community Center, North English Fire Department or the North English QRS.
