Wagner, Bernadette 'Bernie' D.

Bernadette “Bernie” D. Wagner, 63, of Coralville, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Wenceslaus Church, Iowa City, with the Rev. Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lensing Oak Hill Funeral Service, Coralville.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Bernie was born June 3, 1946, in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Marcella Jaeger Kramer. She was a graduate of Western Dubuque High School. On Nov. 13, 1981, Bernie married Robert “Bob” Wagner in Dubuque. Bernie was employed at University Hospitals, where she was a clerk in the hospital gift shop. In 2001, Bernie and Bob moved to Coralville from Dubuque, where Bernie owned and operated the Sunshine Beauty Salon for over 30 years.

Bernie was very creative and enjoyed floral arranging, craft work and attending plays. She loved time spent with her family and her grandchildren.

Bernie is survived by her husband, Bob; two children, Bob Kennedy of St. Louis, Mo., and Kim (Aaron) Kennedy Fransen of St. Louis County, Mo.; three grandchildren, Drew, Nathan and Wesley; and three siblings, Justin “Mick” (Delores) Kramer of Cedar Rapids, Angela (Ron) Haight of Coralville and Tom (Judy) Kramer of Freeport, Ill.

Bernie was preceded in death by her parents, and infant daughter, Cristy.
