Watkins, Erma 'Judy'

Erma “Judy” Watkins 87, of Coralville, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville. A gathering for family and friends will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Private graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville.

Judy was born July 22, 1925, in the Pleasant Valley Township of Fayette County, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford and Lois (Walrath) Brause. She was a graduate of Denver High School in Denver, Iowa. On Sept. 1, she married Robert A. “Bob” Watkins in Cleveland, Ohio. They moved to this area in 1963. The next year she began a career with University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics that spanned over 25 years, with her retirement in 1989.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 721 in Coralville. Judy loved music, dancing, and reading. Every winter Bob and Judy's marriage was interrupted for the Iowa men's and women's basketball season!

Her family includes her daughter, Robin Guy and her husband, Kevin, of Coralville; and three grandchildren, Gordon, Amanda and Jonathon.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother and sister.
