To the editor:
President Barack Obama wants to bring 10,000 Syrian refugees to the U.S.
These refugees are trying to escape ISIS, which is growing fast since Obama withdrew the U.S. troops in Iraq. The U.S. has a policy of checking backgrounds of people before we let them into our country. The Congressional House of Representatives had a meeting on Nov. 19 with the FBI and U.S. Homeland Security and asked them about background information on the 10,000 Syrians. They said we have limited background information on these 10,000 people and they should not be let into the U.S. without checks. It is believed that ISIS has put some of their people into the 10,000 to kill U.S. citizens.
The house passed a bill Nov. 20 to delay the 10,000 into the U.S. until they are checked out. President Obama says he will veto the bill when it gets to him.
About half of the states say they do not want Syrian refugees, but I believe the federal government will decide where they will be placed.
I would think the welfare of U.S. citizens would mean more to President Obama than the welfare of Syrian refugees.
