Iowa City SSMID Nomination Form Available

On December 6, 2011 a Self Supported Municipal Improvement District (SSMID) was created by vote of the Iowa City Council via petition by downtown property owners.

Downtown property owners & tenants agreed to tax themselves an additional $2 per $1,000 assessed value every year for 4 years to begin accomplishing these goals.

The initial SSMID Board will be comprised of property owners, tenants, and representatives appointed in accordance with the petition guidelines.

The SSMID Board will be appointed by a 5-person committee representing the University of Iowa, City of Iowa City, Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce, Iowa City Area Development Group, and the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. 

Contact any of these organizations regarding board nominations.  Nominations are due December 23.
