During her Condition of the State, Gov. Kim Reynolds expressed her commitment to reforming Iowa's tax code. I was glad to see Gov. Reynolds deliver on this important promise to Iowa's middle-class families and businesses.
Based on what I read, a family making roughly $55,000 a year will see a 10 percent rate cut in 2019 and a 23 percent rate cut in 2023.
I also am pleased to see the governor fighting for tax reform in a fiscally responsible way. Eliminating federal deductibility, collecting sales taxes from out of state companies, we can responsibly lower rates and fix our outdated tax code.
This tax reform plan is reasonable; it is filled with bipartisan ideas. It's time for the legislature to act.
