Shirley Ann Reimers Stien, 73, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at the Vinton Lutheran Home Memory Care. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins with the Rev. Douglas Woltemath officiating. Interment will be held at St. Stephen's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church in Atkins. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Vinton Lutheran Home Memory Care. The casket will remain closed at all times.
Shirley was born Sept. 14, 1942, in Vincennes, Ind., to Carl and Ardith (Noble) Reimers and graduated from Lincoln High School in Vincennes, in 1960. She earned her BA degree from Concordia University in River Forest, Ill. On July 2, 1966, she was united in marriage to David Stien at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins. Shirley served as a teacher for several years at Central Lutheran Schools. She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins.
She is survived by her husband, David of Atkins; her children, Elizabeth (Thomas) Heckman of Apple Valley, Minn., Stephanie (Anthony) Schreck of Houston, Texas, and Ellen (Larry) Kling of Ceylon, Minn.; her grandchildren, David Heckman of Ames, Kaitlynn Heckman of Apple Valley, Minn., and Thomas and James Schreck, both of Houston, Texas; her siblings, Sharon (Larry) Ellerman of Vincennes, Ind., Fred (Nancy) Reimers of Dundee, Ill., and Becky (Phillip) Worland of San Jose, Calif,; her mother-in-law, Edna Stien of Newhall; and her in-law siblings, Doug (Deb) Stien and Diane Stien, all of Newhall.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Howard Stien.
